All most of us got was a pathetic sprinkling of snowflakes, freezing drizzle and yuck, with not much of any of the above.
Forecast models had indicated a layer of dry air above us would largely avoid Vermont.
The dry air didn't avoid us, so precipitation has been struggling.
As the day wears on, any drizzle and freezing drizzle will probably change to snow, but it won't amount to much.
A few places might end up with more than two inches of snow, but many of us won't even get that far.
Yep, a blown forecast. It happens.
Despite that, everyone, including me, is absolutely sure a quick blast of Arctic air is coming in later today for a stay unti Saturday. This cold air is guaranteed, though exactly how cold it gets depends upon where you are.
It'll be around zero degrees by dawn tomorrow, stay in the single numbers all day, then plunge well below zero Friday night into early Saturday morning. To me, it looks like the coldest air will be in the Northeast Kingdom.
That's because the core of the coldest air will be starting to lift off to the north and east by early Saturday morning, so western areas will be a tad warmer.
