While we in the North Country were battling snow, freezing rain, rain, strong winds and strange temperature fluctuations, the same storm was hurling tornadoes and damaging winds into the Miami area.

The severe weather in South Florida was a continuation of the tornadic weather that afflicted Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama with this storm the day before.

Despite hitting the heavily populated Miami area on Tuesday, the storms only caused a few injuries and quite a number of close escapes, reports the Miami Herald.

One of the tornadoes crossed Interstate 95 near Miami as the morning rush hour got underway. At least one tractor trailer was flipped and some cars suffered damage, but no serious injuries were reported there.

There's quite a bit of damage to homes, businesses, cars, and trees in the area.  The cleanup continues today.

You can see some videos of the storm next.
